The Catwalk Challenge is a fun and alternative idea for your Team Away Day.
Your group will be put into teams, where they will all start by the creative process of coming up with initial ideas for an outfit for the catwalk. Teams will put their heads together to come up with a concept that will be unique, head-turning and original.
Once the initial concept has been achieved, the team will put their heads down together to start the initial drawing process. This will be timed, which brings excitement and urgency to the design challenge. We usually do this over a period of one hour. And yes, don’t worry — we do get some interesting designs that people come up with in that time.
Once the initial design process is done, the teams will come together to pick out materials from our collection, which will be used to create the outfit. Each team will then be paired with one of our in-house dressmaking experts. The team will have one hour with the expert to go through concepts and to start the making process, helping with cutting material and fitting onto your chosen model for the day (this will be someone from your team).
Bonus points are awarded for the most original and outrageous costumes.
While everyone takes a break and has some food, the designers will finish with the final touches of the outfits before your nominated team member is sent into the fitting room to get changed.
Brace yourself for the next part. Everyone sits down with a drink in hand, the catwalk is clear, the lights are dimmed, and the excitement in the room is unbearable. Brace yourself as the models come down the catwalk showing off their team’s outfits.
This idea always brings out big laughs, creates a huge talking point for everyone, and delivers something a little bit different from the usual team activities. It works brilliantly in a variety of settings — from country estates paired with a relaxed morning walk, right through to being run directly from your office.
So, do you think the team has what it takes to come up with an outfit of their dreams?
